My husband and I were talking the other night about the state of the world. We tend to rant about these things on occasion. Discussions pertaining to government, environment, sometimes religion, and most often - our daughter. During this particular discussion we were exchanging thoughts about environment and "evolution".
I'm a feminist of sorts. Not a "rabid" feminist mind you. I've actually heard of women who believe that we'll evolve out of our need for the male of our species because women will be able to self-fertilize and men would serve no purpose at all. I disagree. Besides, in my antique home I need the male of our species to perform most of the heavy remodeling work! Sperm is not the only contribution made by men. It's an unfortunate way to look at the other gender. But it did get me to thinking...
I've heard rumors that women will someday outnumber men by about 10:1. Now while I do know that we've got to do something about the overpopulation of the earth, it made me wonder a few things. Would something like that potential phenomenon set us back mentally and emotionally? Would women be fighting or warring over men? Moreso than they already do I mean. And the real question....
If this were to come to pass, would semen become the new oil?
