Campaign fatigue

Typed by Pom

I'm exhausted. I can think of absolutely nothing to write about. I'm tired of campaign ads. I want to be able to come to this blog and use it for the purpose I'd originally intended which was nurturing my soul. As you can tell the soul has been seriously lacking because the political scene has hi-jacked the intended tone of this blog and left me feeling drained.

Funny thing about this is, while it doesn't seem this way right now, no matter what happens with the elections in less than 2 weeks - my life will probably not be terribly affected. Yet I can't seem to stop checking polls, watching clips online, reading articles, and otherwise wasting my mind on things that I cannot control beyond my own vote. We will all continue to worry, more or less, about the same things we worried about before this all began. We will all try to maintain some sort of normalcy despite who "wins". We will laugh, cry, go grocery shopping, and try to find ways to get through whatever takes the place of the political scene once it's all over - finally.

Just like the Dow doesn't determine my mood and the way I thought Bush "winning" in 2004 would bring the end of life as we knew it, life will go on. My life will go on with a much less cluttered mind drained of independent thought that has nothing else to gorge itself on but politics and hopefully I'll get myself back on track with the things that I want.

I want to study. My plan is to start working on an online Druidry course or 3. I'll need to figure out a way to keep myself motivated but I've treated it as something to be anticipated by not starting until Samhain in the hopes that studying would hold my interest moreso than if I'd just dived right in. (I'm the queen of the run-on sentence tonight).

I do have a confession - now that there's nobody reading anymore I'll confess it. My original intention was to blog about whatever was on my mind without regard for how it all came across. I wanted to just simply blabber about what came to mind and say what I thought about it. Now I'm not doing that and I'm unsure why. I've started countless entries and deleted them when they became too muddled for comprehension though I'm sure that's hard to detect after reading some of my entries!

I guess politics aren't the only thing on my mind lately, but that's the only thing I can seem to form coherent thoughts about.

Maybe I'll make just a comment or two about the blogs I have in my "blogroll" list.

1. A Heathen's Day - I've been reading his blog for quite awhile and he is an incredibly eloquent commentator covering topics from religion to politics (those things we're not supposed to be talking about) - my two favorite topics. Intelligent and informational and one of the first I check out when I do finally get online.

2. Lover of Strife - Evn is - wow - just hysterically funny and creative and has a group of friends just as funny as he is that never fail to leave wonderfully amusing comments on his blog. Reading his blog always picks me up if I'm a bit down - unless of course he's also a bit down, in which case the world is coming to an end!

3. The Archdruid Report - this is John Michael Greer's blog. If I ever want to feel like complete crap about myself and the way I forgot to think about something totally relevant to Pagan and Druid life I read this blog. He never fails to keep on top of what's going on and how it's impacting the planet and while I find him entirely informative, I don't read his blog as often as I should. I can only handle so much guilt!

4. Yellowdog Granny - Far too funny! This tender-hearted lady has a knack for forcing fluids through people's noses on a regular basis with either sublimely smartassed comments or a healthy selection of funny photos she scours the 'net for. And she's a scorpio - gotta love us scorpios!

5. The Gods Are Bored - Smart, funny, creative, and a source of humor that can find the funny in the sometimes un-funny experience of parenting teens. Not to mention spokesperson for the forgotten, ignored, and bored deities (not to mention faeries) who are itching to get a bit mischievous.

6 & 7) 538.com is an independent (ok slightly slanted) polling site of sorts telling the politically curious where their favored candidates stand by using numerous sources and averages. The guys who run this site also blog about things they're witnessing on both sides of the Presidential campaigns and their takes on different political forums (ie. debates). Informative and funny - even the commentors have a lot to offer. And Taegan Goddard's offers late breaking information on the political scene as well in more of a "news" format.

Read any or all as they appeal to you - don't tell 'em I sent you because I don't pretend any of them like me as much as I like them.

And I'm going to end this now. I'll try again later.

G'night.

Pom, you have to carefully construct everything you want other people to read and understand, THEN you have to tear it up, stomp on it, burn it, then sit down and write whatever your fine fingers damn well please. You might find that your fingers find this pleasing, and when our fingers are pleased, WE, many times, are pleased as well. Sometimes it takes awhile for a fan base to develope that 'Gets it". Just look at me.....I've been doing this for YEARS and I have....ah......let me check here.......I know SOMEbody reads this damn thing.....oh yea........hmmmmm

Did I mention It takes awhile to build a fan base?
