In an article on the New York Post a man tells of his daughter's incredible number of text messages totaling 14, 528 messages in one month. Ok, first of all I find it outrageous that the New York Post ran this story at all but what can ya do? Secondly, this is NOT the most text messages compiled in one month's time by a teenager. The "non-computerized" (meaning an actual human being texting individual messages rather than a spamming text application) world record for text messaging is held by someone named Andrew Acklin for 19,678 texts in one month. I'm sad to say that my daughter has them both beat hands down. In one month over summer vacation my daughter managed to run up a total of 23, 275 text messages with her cell phone. All I can say is that I'm VERY thankful for unlimited texting! Without that handy little feature her potentially record setting messaging would have run us a $3,491.25 bill just for her texting alone. I believe it's safe to say that all of her friends and likely a large number of teens all over the US could take this record easily if they wanted to fess up in public about their text addictions.
The school year has certainly cut into her texting time and now her total texts run somewhere in the neighborhood of 12,000 +/- per month (depending on whether she's grounded or not). She loses her phone specifically for not getting her chores done and this little issue is a direct result of her texting. No time to do chores! I have texting to do!
And in case anyone is wondering - yes her thumbs did develop a real muscled appearance. I refuse to thumb wrestle with her now! Her thumbs are BUFF! lol
