This will be my last entry for awhile. I need to take a blogcation. I'm trying to muddle through some stagnation of the brain and just feel like I've got nothing worth contributing here. I'm a leaf swirling in a whirlpool, no injury but no motivation beyond that which is moving me and I'm not in control of it right now. This is not conducive to good blogging (not that this was ever a "good blog") and so it's time to take a break. But before I take this hiatus, I wanted to give you one last movie review.
The Red Violin - (1999) - Samuel L. Jackson Jean Luc Bideau - directed by Francois Girard
I will confess that the first time I watched this movie I missed the first 5-10 minutes and actually preferred it that way. Throughout the movie you are witness to a tarot reading taking place in the 17th century telling the tale of the reluctant recipient - a pregnant woman - and the inexplicable journey she will take. Laced with some wonderful Pagan symbology the story seems to switch back and forth without much rhyme or reason between a violin made by the pregnant woman's husband and the tarot reading for the pregnant woman herself - until the end when the whole thing finally comes together. The observant viewer will figure it out long before the end of the movie, but the journey is no less spectacular.
The violin is perfect. The tones that are coaxed from it are sublime. You will feel your heart pulling through your ribcage as the first young boy (an orphan) inherits this beautiful instrument and plays it as well as a virtuoso 3 times his age.
Samuel L Jackson plays a terse expert on classical instruments. His story doesn't come in until nearly the end of the movie but creates a fast web of excitement leading to the shocking end of the film.
Even if you're not a fan of classical music, and I'm admittedly no expert on the subject, it's a wonderful movie to watch and experience. It will take nothing away from the pleasure of the music played and you'll be moved despite yourself at those haunting notes.
Enjoy it - and enjoy the break from this blog! Thank you to my loyal readers. Much love and take care!
The Trash Heap has spoken - for the last time for awhile.

see, it wasn't just me that wanted to bail for a while...
come back to the dimestore.jimmy dean jimmy dean..
i'll miss ya...we need to find you more readers...
oh..and i didn't like this movie all that much..
I got the impression that you wanted to leave for awhile because your readership was down moreso than just not having anything to blog about.. If that wasn't the case I apologize - take the break if that's what you need to do.
As far as my needing more readers - not at all. :o) I'm quite content with those who read/comment here. This choice has nothing to do with a lack of readers at all. It's lack of brain power which I am beginning to think has something to do with summer and (as much as I love her) an overload of teenage angsty bs breaking me down. I need more depth than I've had in months and without it I have nothing to say. I've not had much time to get into my own head and what I have had has been spent working on a book. That's why the only thing I've been really posting lately is vid clips or movie reviews - no brain power for anything else! lol That was not at all my intention for this blog. It was supposed to be about my journey and right now my journey has stalemated. It's not a sad choice and it's not quitting - it's just a break. She'll be back in school soon and, who knows, I may be back here writing away soon after.
Sorry you didn't like the movie. I know my taste is not everyone's. I don't love the movie on the whole myself but there are elements that I like and make it worth watching repeatedly - for me anyway. I'd considered doing 'The Motorcycle Diaries', 'Steal This Movie', 'The Garden State', or a few others but that's where I ended.
The nice thing about journeys is that sometimes you need a potty break and coffee stops. :)
Enjoy your virtual vacation! I did that a few onths ago and turned off ALL blogs I was following, and that helped me focus much more on the other Life stuff going on. Afterwards, I felt much more inspired to blog.
Plus, yeah, it's summer. Winter is for introspection and stuff, summer is for playing outdoors and not staring at my computer screen.
Us readers will still be here when you return, thanks to the magic of RSS! :D
Blessings!
Sometimes you just have to step away and life your life. The blogosphere can be consuming. I build my vacays into the blog because if I had to do it seriously nonstop, I'd hurt someone.
Just don't make it too long of a break like next year or something. We'll miss you too much (I'm speaking for everyone at my blog who loves your comments!)
