I've returned from Colorado where we had to attend the funeral of my husband's step-father. He passed to the Otherworld on December 10th and they were unable to perform the cremation until December due to all of the bureaucratic b.s. that goes along with government dependents in this country right now. We'd left Missouri on December 11th assuming that the funeral would be early the following week but it turned out that they were not able to have the funeral until the 18th which meant a week's stay in a hotel room. It worked out but it was more than we anticipated. Fortunately the extra time allowed us to help my mother in law out a great deal, see my husband's uncle who is fighting cancer of the lung, throat, and brain, and Mini Me was able to see her cousins and finally straighten out how she is related to some of these people she hears about but doesn't see much. It had been 9 years almost to the day since we'd seen them - it's almost unforgivable but often unavoidable.
We arrived back home on Saturday night and on Sunday learned that my husband's great aunt also ended her journey in this world and has begun anew in the Otherworld. Needless to say, it was a difficult couple of weeks. May they both be embraced in that Otherworld.
